Bat
This is a magnificent reproduction of a Bat taken from one of the support carvings on the Misericords found within St. Laurence’s Church of Ludlow. The bat is carved in typical medieval style depicting it as more of a mythical creature or even in some opinion a welsh Dragon, Ludlow being on the Welsh/English borders. Originally carved in the 15 th Century c1433 -1470 when over this period major redevelopment took place at the Church and most of the Misericords were carved. This Bat is in truly remarkable condition, virtually as good if not better than the day it was originally carved. This reproduction captures the beautiful colour tones and fine detail applied by the original craftsmen that carved this in the Middle Ages.
Fitted with a D-ring for hanging and a product label, the size is approx 7 inches wide
