Green Man of Ludlow

This has to be one of the finest examples of a green Man we have in our collection taken from an original medieval carving found within the Cathedrals and Churches of England. This is one of a pair of virtually identical Green Men that are the left & right supports on the Misericord N6 which as a main carving of a Gorged & chained Antelope the personnel badge of Henry VI. Like most Green Men it shows the face surrounded by foliage and growing from within his mouth. Originally carved in the 15 th Century c1433 -1470 when over this period major redevelopment took place at the Church and most of the Misericords were carved. This Green Man is in truly remarkable condition, virtually as good if not better than the day it was originally carved. This reproduction captures the beautiful colour tones and fine detail applied by the original craftsmen that carved this rose in the Middle Ages.

Fitted with a D-ring for hanging and a product label, the size is approx 8 inches wide.
